Daily, including today, I see at least three Ruby-throated Hummingbirds taking nectar from the many flowers in our garden and from the jewelweed at the very back of our yard. Although we have a feeder, they very rarely come to it, preferring the nectar from the flowers. I know the three in my yard are a female and two juveniles because I have watched them since the immatures were fledged. I have not seen a male for about a week now. The three feed almost all day long in preparation for their journey south. About a week and a half ago, I had as many as 8 in my yard. Perhaps more.
