I have counted 5 small, 4 medium and 1 large caterpillars on 10 medium-sized milkweed plants in my back yard. There are likely more that I don't see, as there have been many eggs laid and there are probably very small cats in there. I've been battling spiders that I think might be eating eggs and small cats.
One medium sized caterpillar died for no apparent reason.
