One Hour Observation: 10:30AM to 11:30AM (2 feeders about 60 feet apart. Weather - Breezy with Gusts - 63 degrees F. Sun and Clouds)
Humming birds were coming frequently!!!!! I don't know how many separate individuals. But I logged 37 separate sightings.
Males: Only 2 or 3 separate males.
Females: The rest females Only 3 sightings I did not ID Gender
One male was observed guarding on the hemlock branch next to our side house feeder (next to window). Approx. 20 minutes he sat on a branch - coming to sip the sugar water and then returning to a branch. I saw him scare off one female. See Photo
Generally - the guarding was quite different than in summer - not as intense.
Watched one female sit on a branch near the window feeder. Also saw her pick around the hemlock branch with her beak. I presume she was snatching insects. While she was sipping from the feeder another female waited her turn from a nearby branch.
