Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 08/21/2015

Number: 2

On the underside of a milkweed plant leaf there were 2 monarch
caterpillars. Both were in the initial stage of forming a chrysalis; however attached to both of them were an aphid type
insect that had literally taken the life out of them. Has anyone else observed this phenomena? I wonder if this is a more common this year than in the past.
