Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/22/2015

Number: 5

Observed 4 monarchs flying past our house today all going in a southwest direction. Another was nectaring on our zinnias, then fly to rest in the overhanging tree, back to the zinnia- 4 times before leaving. So I went to the roosting area at the Monona Butterfly Garden and found the first small roost of 5 in a low hanging branch. All good signs for migration. Will try to get pictures next time.

Editor's note: This site reported roosting in a previous year.
