3:20 p.m. @north entrance to Washington Park, Second Street & Palisade Avenue, Union City, Hudson County, New Jersey: Separate individuals of adults, 3 males and 2 females nectaring on white buddleia. All were strong flyers with frequently observed gliding and repeated returns to different tops of buddleia. I held one female in my hand. All were untagged. One of the females was small as was a male; one female's wings were faded, no sign of wing bites from predators.
Also observed in company of Monarchs were silver-spotted skippers and bumblebees. Monarchs preferred the tops of plants.
