Sometime around 9:30 am a female monarch was sighted on my neighbor's shrub basking in the sun, a few feet away from my front patio, as I came out the front door. She flew up and nectared at one of my potted tropical milkweeds as I decided whether to go back inside for my camera. But I was off to do errands, and figured she would come back. She flew up as I walked past to land on a non-blooming common milkweed. She seemed to bask there for a little bit, then flew off. I figured she'd be back, but didn't see her again all day. My yard is Monarch Waystation #271, since 2005.
