Observations from Tommy Thompson Park, Toronto - Sunday, August 23/15
My son and I covered the first kilometer of the spit yesterday afternoon (8/22) and saw 3 clouded sulphurs, 2 black swallowtails and about 30 monarchs, including 1 mating pair. We also found 1 milkweed caterpillar. Most of the monarchs were not fresh and I suspect many of them will pair off and lay eggs for the migratory generation of mid to late September.
