Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/01/2015

Number: 3

I live in Sitka, an island town in southeast Alaska. I'd been seeing hummingbirds on my feeder, starting in March this year and they were continuing to visit the feeders until I took them down on August 1, 2015. Normal hummingbird activity is from April to July. We had an unusual summer, in that we had many, many warm and sunny days. We are a rain forest climate and generally have more rain, heavy mist, etc than sunny weather. I was afraid to leave the feeders up any longer. I knew the birds had to get going on their trip south.
