We accidentally uncovered a bumble bee nest in the ground this summer, when we removed a basketball hoop from our yard. We covered it with a planter to keep them dry from the rain, and were able to observe them until a week or so ago. One day we opened it up and they were gone, and had covered the area with dry grass and pine needles.
