Last fall we sowed some milkweed seeds in a sunny area near our driveway. About 8 small plants appeared in July and are only about 15 inches tall. In the past week or so we've noticed something has been eating the leaves. Yesterday we spotted 5 monarch caterpillars munching away. The two smallest are about an inch long. The others are much bigger. Hope the birds don't find them. We put some fine netting over the plants to try to protect them a little - hopefully that's OK to do?
