Until this sighting, I had seen only one other Monarch this YEAR!!! I have had milkweed and nectar plants in my garden for years with monarch activity almost year round. So, to have seen only two Monarchs (both female, btw) is so alarming!! Since spring, I have also examined milk weed in other gardens...no eggs or larvae on ANY of them. I DO have a few eggs and early stage larva. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Has there been other reports like mine from New Orleans/South Louisiana?
