Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/25/2015

Number: 3

I spotted two males and one female monarchs in my butterfly garden. All were sipping from the buddleia flowers, swamp milkweed buds and coneflowers. I watched the female as she was laying eggs on the youngest swamp milkweed plants. In the evening I had a bonanza collecting expedition! After a slow summer I collected 32 eggs! One tiny milkweed leaf had 6 eggs on it ... A dumping! I'm sure other females contributed to the overall abundance of eggs. I did see this female flutter at that same tiny milkweed but could not confirm if the cluster was her doing.
