My wife and I observed three adult monarchs nectaring on joe pye weed along route 17 south. could not determine if they were migrating or pre-migrating. Anyway the usual sighting for us in this area is about 20 per hour. Did not see that count this time around. about three in one hour. other obeservers we talked to said their counts were down. We saw huge numbers of the yellow and black swallow tails butterflies.
