Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 08/29/2015

Number: 3

We still have at least one male and several females coming to our feeders. We have one female, Big Mama, who guards both feeders and tries to chase all others away. They have to drink quickly and be on the lookout or she'll buzz them before they can escape. She's so tough she will display her tail feathers to the honey bees and chase them away with her beak right on their tails. We never have more than one bird on the feeders at a time. And if I'd let her, she would just sit and perch on one of the feeders to be on the lookout for other birds. Most of he time she perches in a Crepe Myrtle about 20 feet away. It is amazing to watch.
