I saw three monarch butterflies yesterday and another three today. Of these, at least five did not seem to be moving south. They were fluttering and nectaring, low to the ground. The milkweed here in SW Michigan is turning yellow and many leaves on the plants have fallen off. However, second cutting milkweed is plentiful in mowed ditches, some even getting blossoms.
