Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/31/2015

Number: 3

My two resident female hummingbirds are still here and are very aggressive towards each other. I sat outside near the feeder yesterday and watched the two of them carry on a battle royal for a good 45 minutes. A third female tried to approach the hummingbird feeder and they ran her off and went back to their own duel. I could actually hear them hitting each other and after about a half an hour of constant battle they became entangled. One was flying and the other one was being dragged along. They made it about eight feed before crash landing in my garden. I went over to see if they were OK and they both flew off. They immediately went back to the telephone line above the feeding and took up positions about a foot apart. They didn't move for a good ten minutes. I think they were just worn out. I've only seen one of them at the feeder today.
