It's that time of year again when the Anna's hummingbirds begin to stake out their winter territories in the garden--and hopefully they'll again stay all winter long to cheer me up during the cold season (and to keep me on my toes with feeder-filling).
Right now we have five males, two in the front yard, one on the east side, and two in the front yard. Curiously, they once again seem to prefer the front yard with its northern exposure (as they have done during the last several winters).
