I observed this monarch butterfly resting on my neighbor's tree after it had been feeding on the buddleia bush in front of my house for several minutes. For Sept. 2nd the day was unseasonably hot with a temperature of 89 degrees and very humid sending the heat index into the upper 90's. I figured this monarch needed to rest & cool down a little after vigorously feeding by hopping from branch to branch in search of succulent nectar.
