Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/03/2015

Number: 12

There are a lot of Monarchs feeding on new England Aster today and a couple of them have discovered the zinnas. This is the most I've seen in my garden so far this migration season. It's hard to tell the number because there are multiple Monarchs feeding and moving from one area of asters to another. I've planted New England Asters in several different locations with different exposures to prolong the blooming season. I see one of the plantings has some type of mildrew. I'll be curious to see if it damages the flowers. I've never had a mildrew problem with asters before. There is a lot of competition at the asters between Monarchs' Swallowtails, bees and even the hummingbirds.
