Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 08/06/2015

Number: 2

Assuming this is a female ruby throated hummer. On a few occasions, I have seen the male chase the female away from our two feeders that are set up in the front yard. Once, I saw both hummers at their own feeder! Unfortunately, our bee balm didn't last through the early summer so the feeders have helped. Other plants we have are cardinal flower, garden phlox, columbine, and red and white salvias. Due to the different bloom times, I've seen the hummers at the salvia plants while the bees and butterflies feed on the phlox.
