Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/03/2015

Number: 5

A slow start to the day, didn't see a monarch until 11:00am, Only one or 2 at a time feeding on meadow blazing stars. Some feeding on tropical milkweed and new England asters. Around 5:00pm finally saw 5 in the butterfly garden at once, they stayed until dusk. We had a thunder storm last night around 6:00 at the time the monarchs heading for shelter. Today the garden seemed totally different than it has throughout the week. No hummingbirds, no robins, very few finches, fewer bees, fewer butterflies, even cabbage white numbers were down. The weather was still hot & humid. I released 3 females today.
