Have seen hummingbirds regularly all summer nectaring on cherry chief sage, cardinal flower, zinnia, phlox, milkweed and meadow blazing stars. First sighting of the year was May 9/15.
I didn't see any Sept 2nd & 3rd so I thought they had started migrating. Today they were in my butterfly garden & rain garden nectaring most of the day. Even had 2 at one time. They looked small so I'm assuming they are young ones. They didn't fly away after nectaring only went into nearby tree to rest for a moment then they were back nectaring.
Hot & humid here today, has been like this all week.
