Hummers are nectaring almost all day. Nicotiana, Mexican sunflower,zinnias,scarlet runner bean,and salvia summer jewel. I am so glad I have all these late bloomers. They are also nectaring at my feeder. I could stand on the path and the hummer would come as close as 18 inches and I could just stand there and take pictures. Then they would take off and they were so close I could hear them buzz by my head. Then I could hear them make their song from a bush or the maple tree that I often see them in. I think they are the young . I now recognize the sound or song they make. It is quite loud for such tiny creatures.
