Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/05/2015

Number: 16

Number of birds has increased to about 15-20 for about the last week, with about 5-7 males in the bunch. Going through about 8-10 cups of homemade nectar daily out of 4 single-flower and 2 four-flower feeders, every flower of which are occupied at daybreak and just before nightfall - plus the noisy, swirly cloud of birds waiting their turn!

One female has been trying to lay claim on one small feeder by standing on top of it and chasing off the other birds until something spooks her off for a bit, and then she comes back to her perch. Have not seen that before (the perching and guarding part).
