Sightings report image

Date: 09/05/2015

Number: 10

On the corner of Hwy 24 and Hwy 58, in Cape Carteret North Carolina, the State plants sunflowers and zinnia flowers in large fields along the highway right of ways. These fields are a favorite for a large variety of butterflies. And these fields are a much needed source of nectar for the migrating Monarchs that follow the North Carolina Outer Banks on their journey South.
