I felt I had to send another update on my hummingbirds behavior because I haven't seen anyone else mention this. I have a dominate female that sits on the overhead wires surveying her territory. She gives chase as soon as she spots another trying to eat. However, once in a while the other females seem to stop and challenge the dominate one. They actually "body slam" one another in mid air! I am only about 20 feet away from them when this happens, and the sound is fierce! I call them my vicious little birds.
