We observed one monarch near some flowers in the west end of middle bass island in the morning, one over water near the shore at midday, and one out over lake erie during the ferry ride back to the mainland. Back in the 1990s we used to observe 100s of monarchs on the west end of Middle Bass island during the migration, but the numbers seem to have dropped off drastically in recent years.
