Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/08/2015

Number: 4

I noticed four late instar cats feeding on milkweed, each sighted in various locations far apart in our yard. There may have been more cats hiding but I didn't have my glasses! These are not the same cats I reported last week.

At four o'clock today I also saw two monarchs in very good condition flying about our yard, not together though. They were interested in the verbena bonarienses. I think these too may have eclosed on our milkweeds. I have about thirty MW plants of various varieties and probably ten are totally eaten up. I will report the butterfly sightings separately.

Today was hot, sunny and clear with some breeze.
