Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/05/2015

Number: 300

Observation of two full days 9/5/15-9/6/15 of Monarch Butterflies flying south in groups along the Lake Michigan Coastline. Concentrations of upwards of 20-30 at a time. Flight speeds and playfulness were reminiscent of small birds at times.

We were outside for most of the two days we saw them so we periodically looked to the sky and just saw that they kept coming and coming in pockets. Sometimes 2 or 3 at a time and sometimes 10-20 at a time. It was just amazing. And they were everywhere on the flowers down below.
