Found over a dozen small to medium size caterpillars on my milkweeds with a huge praying mantis "guarding" them (Ha!). I moved them to other milkweed plants and have found only one chrysalis this week. I still have a few more caterpillars and will try to insure that they make it to the migrating flock. I have to fight to grow native plants in my town as milkweeds and others (coneflowers, spiderwort, etc.)are seen as a "permitting nuisance" ordinance violation even though decrepit, filthy, fire-damaged, roofless, windowless, leaking, boarded up buildings all over downtown are completely code compliant. If anyone knows of ways to register areas of yards as to become protected native pollinator habitats, please contact me. I would very much appreciate any assistance. Thank you all for your efforts in your yards and through this website.
