Monarch, Captive-Reared

Date: 09/10/2015

Number: 1

I'm happy and sad to report that I released my last monarch (a male) at my favorite produce company's grounds. He's the last of 160 captive reared 4th generation monarchs(75 females; 85 males) embarking for Mexico making the total this year: 277. It was remarkable that there were no parasites. I did experience 25 totally black eggs that never hatched and one caterpillar whose skin never split correctly causing it to act like a tourniquet for the chrylasis which looked like an hourglass.
