Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/10/2015

Number: 1

I released my last captive reared monarch this a.m. When he was poised on my index finger (of course pointing SW), he held his wings outstretched and looked both ways as if checking the runway. Then he fluttered his wings a tiny bit and launched high up into the air. He didn't do a fly over and land back on me like others have done but it was poignant nonetheless. I guess I'm missing monarchs in St. Anthony Village. I hope to see some migrating ones soon.
