I hadn't seen a hummingbird in 4 days so I was very excited to see this one tonight. She hovered in the yard going up and down the Peace Pole in the yard. I couldn't tell, but it looked like she was eating bugs in the air. Then she flew over to the trumpet vine and drank for a while, went flying around up and down backward and forward and then flew to the sunroom. Once she was there, I saw her eating bugs out of the air! Then she moseyed over to the feeders and sat a spell drinking and looking around. After getting another belly full she left! I don't think she is one of the normal hummers that have been in the yard all summer - they know where all the feeders are in my yard and would visit each one. This one just visited the more obvious feeders. Maybe a traveler passing through on her journey south.
