Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/11/2015

Number: 9

9 hummers very active again this evening. They stake out their feeder by almost continuously perching on it. Had one land on a feeder just as I hung it on the hook. Very cool experience. They were chittering at me when I would approach the feeders. Still lots of feeding on black & blue and Wendy's Wish salvias. Had one checking out a purple geranium. Lots of aerial battles. Unfortunately one of the little zippers crashed into a window and didn't recover. Felt pretty bad about that. So we're down to 8. Last departure time for evening roost was 7:42 p.m. Had mostly cloudy sky with hi of 65. We hope this posse sticks around awhile. Warmer weather coming next week. This is a record for us that more than 4 - 5 hummers have stuck around several days. We're counting our blessings.
