Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/12/2015

Number: 1

at a MonarchWatch.org waystation, c/w sign, a 42 mm long caterpillar having its final meal of milkweed. Today 13 Sept, no sign of the caterpillar.

This caterpillar is part of the last cohort of caterpillars which will extend into October in Southwestern Ontario. My last encounter with mating Monarchs flying in copula was 2 pairs on September 2, 2015 less than one mile away.

congrats to gardeners Marilyn and John for tending their milkweed this year. They were so excited, they sent their own photo to Monarch Watch with the caterpillar inthe foregronud and the sign in the background.
