two pair of in copula Monarch (one pair photographed at this location and the other pair was less than one mile away on Seneca Rd)
high temperatures have triggered reproduction in some of the locally produced Monarchs as some that appear to be migrants are moving into this area. Males are defending patches of milkweed that has been deliberately left standing by lawn service personel in this housing development area — in aid of Monarch reproduction!
