Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/15/2015

Number: 3

Yesterday, I released 3 captive-raised monarchs. Two males One female

Today around 4 PM I went to the nearby and very large goldenrod and purple aster hill field. I saw all three. The flowers are at peak - just gorgeous. And the monarch three - know it.

I saw two monarchs just an hour after I released them - 9/14. I suspect those were the newly released monarchs.

I also think that these three today are the same butterflies I released on 9/14. Perfect day - sunny - 72 degree F. with a very light breeze. I could not determine gender as when they landed on a flower - their wings were kept folded. And they left too quickly for me to get a look at the top of the wings.

My garden, where I found the caterpillars the end of August, is about 300 feet from this field.
