Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/16/2015

Number: 8

We had about 25 permanent this spring and summer. Many left about three weeks ago. We now have no males and about 8 others here this week. They are small, probably 6 juveniles and two females continue at any leftover flowers and our feeders. Will keep my feeders filled for another month at least. Next year I will hang a big red ribbon on a tree in front of the house so migrating hummers can spot it easily from the air. My feeders hang from my front porch, so may not be as visible for flyovers. I love these little guys and will miss them. Hopefully they will all have safe journeys! I wish I could take a picture, but they are especially fast right now, hardly perch at all, just drink.
