Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/09/2015

Number: 100

Monarch Butterflies are (in my words) swarming my Butterfly bushes the last two days (9/8-9) at Gualala Country Inn. (Official sighting language might not call it swarming) Its normally between 1 and 4pm in the afternoon, when the sun is the brightest. Today (9/9) at 2:15pm there looked to be at least 75 to 100 of them out there. As I was showing customers rooms, we observed both bushes in a cloud of butterflies, flying and landing. (How do you count a cloud of butterfly’s?) I figured 80 to 120?? Yesterday (9/8) probably 40 to 60 were out there.
