Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/17/2015

Number: 1

Exiting our classroom at 2:40 PM today, we watched a single hummingbird hovering by trees. We had just read about hummingbirds, so my students were fascinated to watch this one hummingbird hover, land on a branch, flit and zip from tree branch to tree branch. It was so fast, we could not identify the exact type of hummingbird, but it looked gray/brown/black. I did not see bright colors, but then again the tree shaded the bird and colors were difficult to discern. I am suspecting a Rufous Hummingbird.
