Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/17/2015

Number: 1

Sept 18 2015

Yesterday afternoon Sept 17 , I spotted one migrant Monarch flying SW at the railway bridge on Spadina Ave. in downtown Toronto. Seeing the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre in the background, and the forest of condo towers yet to be navigated by this lone adult just to get to the lakeshore helped put the Pelee roosting individuals into a sharper perspective.
THE QEW ALSO HAD MONARCHS flying in close company with the traffic.
These Pelee adults are already survivors, but ones with a long way to go before winter sets in.

We still have Monarch caterpillars here in Leamington that will not be flying migrant Monarchs until October. They are one brood later than the majority of fliers here now.
