Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/18/2015

Number: 6

Have more hummingbirds than last week, when numbers were down to approximately four and the feeders were not being emptied as frequently. Sugar water consumption has increased and there are now six, possibly seven birds visiting the feeders and my mandevilla and streptocarpella flowers. I suppose the extra hummingbirds are migrants stopping over. Am still seeing three residents that I can definitely recognize by their habits or appearance, one of which is definitely a juvenile male, another perhaps a juvenile (judging by its behavior),but I'm not sure if it is a male or female. The adult female with the white feathers at the base of her beak that I reported on 08/28/15 is still here also, though I believe her to be a migrant because she did not make an appearance at any point earlier in the season.
