Our day started with 42 degrees, so our tiny guests slept in a little before arriving at the feeders. There were 5 hummingbirds in the habitat today--18 freshly filled feeders and a nice assortment of flowers--turtle heads, Black and Blue Salvia, Obedient Plants, Dicentria Scandens, Clematis Ragouchi, Petunias, Nasturiums, Morning Glories, Gartenmeister Fuschia, Hibiscus, Cardinal Flower, and Blue Lobelia. During the day, I observed necturing with the Obedient Plants, Dicentria Scandens and G. Fuschia. Activity increased at the feeders at 6:45 PM and at 8 PM our guests went to bed :) In 2014 our last hummer guest left September 24th; it will be interesting to see if we have any "tardy birds" after this date in 2015.
