Date: 09/16/2015

Number: 3

Today 5th grade students spotted 3 monarchs while outside drawing plants in the school butterfly garden. 2 monarchs were observed flying above the garden, circling but not landing to feed. Then a third monarch flew in and started to feed on the butterfly bush by the nurse's office. The feeding monarch was positively identified by the students from the pattern of the lower wings. The flying butterflies were identified as monarchs by their flight patterns.
