I was surprised when out on a walk to see about 15-20 monarch butterflies still hanging around. I hatched 6 from eggs this year, but released the last one on 9/15 (4 males and 2 females).
We had a bit of a cold snap recently but today was a warm 80° and they were flying from flower to flower, mostly clover, in the open fields.
I truly thought they would have all flown south by now.
