Very good numbers of monarchs continue to be seen daily in Cape May Point, NJ. It's impossible to count all of the monarchs here, our posting of "1000" is a conservative estimate. We compare year to year using census protocol which we report on the CMBO Monarch Monitoring Project website: http://www.monarchmonitoringproject.com/mmptwo.html. Good numbers of monarchs were both arriving into and departing from Cape May from Sept. 14 through 20. Moderately strong NE winds on Sept. 21 and 22 are preventing most monarchs from leaving Cape May Point and crossing the Delaware Bay, so we're watching them rest and feed around the gardens throughout the community.
