Late afternoon, with the sun lighting up a grouping of purple asters and goldenrod along the Sunnyside Beach of Lake Ontario, there were dozens of monarchs feeding and resting. Several were roosting above the flowers in a small willow tree. All the resting monarchs positioned themselves to catch the most of the waning sunlight.
