Signs of Fall

Date: 09/23/2015

Number: 1

The 3rd week in August the Black saddlebag and Red saddlebag draronflies began to migrate through. In early September the hummingbirds appeared and a few weeks ago the grackles began to molt, most conspicuously losing their long black tail feathers.

Tiger lillies have popped up in yards all across town, whether we've had rain on not!

Sunsets seem early and days almost 2 hours shorter.

Our major observation has been the increasing lowness of the moon in its arc across the sky. It's been 18 years since it was as low! A different kind of season, running on a different clock!
