Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/23/2015

Number: 1

I observed one very small juvenille feeding briefly at one of my nectar feeders this morning at around 10:am. I looked out the window several times today looking for hummingbirds and did not see any other sightings. This bird was most likely migrating because it did not seem as at home at my feeder as the dozens I have had fighting over feeders in previous weeks. I noticed that the dozens of hummingbirds that claimed these feeders as their own began leaving to fly south in early September and all were gone after the first cold spell here on Sept 13 when the temperature dropped. The high that day was 68 F and low was 51 F. The few juveniles I have seen since then are very small, feed briefly and are soon on their way again. The low last night was 59 F.
